About The Web Hosting Show

What is all this about? Is this a radio show? Is it a podcast? What am I suppose to do with it? These are a lot of the questions I hear from a day to day basis. Hopefully in the next few paragraphs I will be able to tell you what this show is all about, give you a few helpful links and teach you how to get the most out of the one and only voice of the Web hosting world, the Web Hosting Show.

What is a Podcast?

Podcasting is a method of publishing audio programs via the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed of new files (usually MP3s). It became popular in late 2004, largely due to automatic downloading of audio onto portable players or personal computers. Podcasting is distinct from other types of online media delivery because of its subscription model, which uses a feed (such as RSS or Atom) to deliver an enclosed file.

Podcasting enables independent producers to create self-published, syndicated “radio shows,” and gives broadcast radio programs a new distribution method. Listeners may subscribe to feeds using “podcatching” software (a type of aggregator), which periodically checks for and downloads new content automatically. Most podcatching software enables the user to copy podcasts to portable music players. Any digital audio player or computer with audio-playing software can play podcasts.

Who is the Web Hosting Show’s Host, Mitch Keeler?

Being somewhat of an oddity himself growing up, the urge to become more creative and charismatic has become the driving force behind his success.

Anyone can write an article, tutorial or page on any topic they might choose. The trick to the matter though is to find a way to be informative and creative at the same time. You must not only tell somebody how to tackle an issue or your opinion, you must hold their hand and make them see the steps or subject through your eyes. This is what Mitch Keeler sets out to accomplish every time his freaky fingers go to work on his keyboard.

Mitch has decided that to become successful he must work with what brought him “to the dance”, Web hosting. Writing is truly something he loves to do and share with other people in the hope that other people will walk away with a better understanding and maybe just a small part of Mitch’s personality along with them.

How Can I Listen to the Podcast?

There are many ways you can listen to the Web Hosting Show each and every week. Here are just a few:

1. Come to the Web Hosting Show Web site every Monday and Thursday to download the new audio and video content that is avaliable. You can also listen to the audio straight from the Web site. Just click the big “play” button the right side of the Web page. You can also right-click the media files, select “Save as..” or “Save Link As..” and download them to your computer to listen to later.

2. Plug the RSS feed into your favorite feed reader (such as My Yahoo!, Bloglines, Newsgator, FeedDemon and others) or podcasting client (such as iTunes, iPodder, Podnova, and others) and have the shows downloaded for you automatically.

Where Can I Hear Your Theme Music?

Some folks have been E-mailing me about the theme music that I use for the first and the end of The Web Hosting Show and wanting to know where they can download the whole thing for themselves. One of the first things I looked for when starting this journey through the Web hosting world was good music. When you write an article, you want to make the first few lines really catch the attention of the reader. The same could be said about podcasts. I wanted something that I personally liked, but also got the attention of the listener. Thanks to the help from Dezyner Records I was able to make that a reality.

The song that I use for The Web Hosting Show is called, “Reflashment” and can be found on the Dezyner Records Web site for download, for free! I do ask though that if you like this song or any of the other ones please donate to them via PayPal. There really is some great music up there to listen to! If you haven’t listened to the whole “un-cut” version of The Web Hosting Show’s theme you are really missing out. It rocks!
