This is just crazy.

The Bush administration is objecting to the creation of a .xxx domain, saying it has concerns about a virtual red-light district reserved exclusively for Internet pornography.

Updates and the Next Podcast

Hello Web hosters! I just wanted to let everybody know that I will be a little busy this weekend, during my usual show recording time, but do not worry I have an episode of the Web Hosting Show ready to go for all of you. Podcast 25 of the Web Hosting Show will be a “best of the best” type episode. I am going to go through some of the best Web hosting Web sites out there, such as best forums, best news site, best directory one by one and give you my picks. It should be a little different and hopefully a lot of fun to listen to. So check that out this Monday, right here on the Web Hosting Show Web site.

I’m also looking for a few more folks to interview, so if you have something to do with the Web hosting industry and you want to talk, feel free to shoot me over an E-mail and we will get something worked out. If all else fails, there is still the Web Hosting Show voice mail as well. Just leave me a quick question, comment, suggestion or remark! All you have to do is login to Skype, call me (user name: mitchkeeler) and I’ll get it onto a future episode of the show.

First Award for Web Hosting Show!

Yeah, I was overlooked this year over at PodcastAwards.com, I have learned to deal with that. On the bright side of things though, I was awarded an Editor’s Choice Award via the folks at the Host Reference Web site. Being listed with some of the hosting industry greats such as The Hosting Standard and Web Host Magazine is a good feeling indeed.

Here is what Host Refferance had to say about me:

The Web Hosting Show exhibits a quirkiness unique to the hosting industry. Unlike so many sources that try too hard to be professional (when they really come across as cheap) The Web Hosting Show sort of embraces a degree of cheapness and we here at HostReference like that. The show is growing and evolving so, but actively seeks participation from its viewers, something that allows for a dynamic and interesting future. This beta video is also quite a humorous way to learn about the basics of hosting.

Now that my friends is cool.

Free Open Source Control Panel

Every few weeks I get an E-mail from somebody asking for a free control panel solution. Since some of the bigger control panel companies ask for licence fees to use them, a lot of people are looking for other alternatives. OpenHSP is one of those free solutions I just ran across this morning while checking out a few forum threads. Read more »
