This is the Web Hosting Show, the one and only voice of the Web hosting world. This show is supported each and every week by the fine folks over at Web Hosting Chat. Web Hosting Chat is your number one place for Web hosting discussions. Taking you through a joyride of the Web hosting world, I am Mitch Keeler.
What I like to do for you each week is break up the Web hosting industry into smaller bite size nuggets that are easier to swallow. There is a lot of information out there about Web hosting, and I don’t want you to turn your back to it all just because it might be a little confusing. Here on this very podcast we give you the latest Web hosting news, some of my own Web hosting thoughts, a few Web sites of the week, Web hosting deals too good to be true… it just does not get much better than this.
There are many different stories in the Web hosting world, and I want to hear them. Now that I have my new mic I am ready to record a few more interviews with anybody and everybody from the Web hosting industry. As long as you have a story to tell, I want to hear it.
The reason I say anybody and everybody is I know how it feels to have a proverbial door shut in your face because you are not “elite” enough to get attention. I don’t want to be a guy who only talks to the guys who already get enough attention. I will talk to those folks, but I want to talk to you too. So just hit me up with a E-mail, mitch@mitchkeeler.com if you are interested and I am sure we can work out a time that would be good for both of us.
If you have something to say or have a question to ask, I am an easy man to get ahold of. All you have to do is drop me an E-mail at mitch@mitchkeeler.com. You can also send me a voice message via Skype as well. My name on there is mitchkeeler.
Web Hosting Headlines
The Web hosting news and headlines are brought to you by The Web Host Industry Review. The Web Host Industry Review is the place to go to get all the latest Web hosting news from around the globe.
EpresenceSolutions Offers $1.99 Domain
Domain name registrar ePresenceSolutions.com announced on Monday that its customers can now register a domain at the discounted rate of $1.99 per year with any non-domain purchase.
Mitch’s Take: Yet another domain name price drop. Doesn’t this sound familiar though? The pricing and scheduling of the deal are identical to a discount offer announced last week by domain and hosting giant Go Daddy.
Go Daddy Adds to Dedicated Plans
Web hosting provider and domain registrar Go Daddy announced on Tuesday that it had introduced new options for its virtual dedicated and dedicated hosting plans.
Mitch’s Take: Having already taken over the domain name market, it looks like Go Daddy is quickly taking over the Web hosting market as well. The question is, what will Go Daddy take over after that?
Verio Signs Deals with Google, Yahoo!
Managed hosting provider Verio announced on Wednesday it has signed referral agreements with Google and Yahoo! Search Marketing in an effort to help customers better market themselves online.
Mitch’s Take: There is a lot of money flowing into this type of market these days. I still say the best way to get yourself known is word of mouth. Then you have a trust that money can not buy.
Do you have some Web hosting news? Make sure you send it to mitch@mitchkeeler.com and I’ll try to get it on the next episode of the Web Hosting Show.

Free Web Design Services To Non Profit Organizations
Kooshin.com’s Kooshin Designs have a special deal for all the non profit organizations out there. With the launch of the new “Kooshin Designs” service, they are giving away Web design services to any and all non profit organizations that might need the help. The Web sites will be designed on a “first come, first serve” basis, with a few organizations already signed up and on the list.
When I asked the folks at Kooshin.com why they were doing this they told me, “We just want to give something back to the internet community and help those organizations get a good online presence”. If you are interested or know somebody who might be interested make sure you tell them to talk to the folks over at Kooshin.com. They can be reached at by E-mail at webmaster@kooshin.com or via MSN Messenger at support@kooshin.com.
Which Control Panel is Best?
This question came from David via E-mail:
I host websites and online backups for medical practices. We thinking about moving from our current Cobalt Racks to linux / apache. I have looked at control panels from Plesk, Cpanel, and Ensim. In your opinion which one is the easiest, most cost effective?
Thanks for the E-mail David! Now all of the control panels you have listed are all pretty good. Even with my negative comments towards them on last week’s show, I’d have to say your best bet would be to go with cPanel. The folks at cPanel have the most “in demand” and popular control panel out there right now. So why go with the most popular?
Well, if you have any problems, chances are somebody else had the same problems before you did. So in that aspect support and troubleshooting problems will be a little easier. I also feel like it is simple one of the best control panels out there today. Sure, it has a few design flaws, but try to find something out there that doesn’t.
Here is a three part article series I did a few months ago looking at all the control panels out there on the market right now, looking at what they offer and trying to decide who is the best of the best.

Web Hosting and VoIP
I just got this press release delivered to me today:
MonsterHosting.ca, a Canadian web hosting and e-commerce solutions provider, announced today that it plans to launch a Voice over Internet Protocol service, making it the first Canadian web host to do so, and opening a new chapter for the British Columbia based company.
This seems to be a slow trend in the Web hosting world. I see more and more Web hosting companies moving into the area of VoIP (Voice Over IP). What do I think about it all? I think it is a smart business solution for the companies out there who can afford to move down that road. It is obvious that VoIP is going to be the way of the future and I am happy to see that once again Web hosting is playing a key part in the world’s innovations.
The thing that keeps this from being big news is the fact that nobody knows exactly why these companies are doing it. How is my Web hosting company going to benefit from moving into the Voice over Internet Protocol world? Untill that is easy to explain as Web hosting itself, then I don’t know how much media hype is there for such an event. Right now it seems as exciting to the public as a Web host buying a new server. What I want the Web hosting world to do is explain it to me and give me a reason to get excited about it.
Do you have a Web hosting topic of discussion you would like to hear me cover on the Web Hosting Show? Then make sure you send it to mitch@mitchkeeler.com and I’ll try to get it on the next episode of the Web Hosting Show.
Web Site Design Help, Support and Ideas
All of the Web Hosting Show’s design help is sponsored by BrowseHosts. BrowseHosts is the most comprehensive Web hosting directory out there today.
This week’s Web site that needs some help is BeyondHost.net.
Right now all I see are a lot of images. I hope that his is just you placing a design up for folks to look at without having to worry about people stealing your layout. If not you really need to convert all this into CSS and HTML or it isn’t going to be much use to anybody.
I like the color use on the Web page, with the black and white in the background and just flashes of color. I would work a little color into your main graphic though. Make it seem like the rest of the Web hosting world is just black and white till you reach your Web hosting company.
Some more of the Web pages inside of the Web site still need some filling out, but you are onto a great start and I wish you all the success in the world.
Do you need some help with your Web site design? Would you like me to just let you know what it is you could do to make your Web presence that much better? Make sure you contact me at mitch@mitchkeeler.com and I’ll try to get your questions answered and your Web site reviewed on the next episode of the Web Hosting Show.
Web Hosting Web Site of the Week
The Web hosting Web site of the week is brought to you by Banners World. Banners World is the number one place to visit to get all your Web site graphics, banners and designs done.
Our first Web hosting Web site of the week is Host Pulse.
Host Pulse is a dedicated server and Web hosting directory. They feature a list of the top twenty-five Web hosts, hosting articles, and news on and about the Web hosting industry. Our second Web hosting Web site of the week is Inside ISPCON the blog for ISPCON.
The Web site looks very nice, it has the look of your standard blog. I like the idea that the folks at ISPCON are blogging because it makes me feel like I have an easier place to understand what it is they are doing there. ISPCON is not just a big event for ISPs out there. It is also a big event for the Web hosting world as well. They even have a section marked for podcasts, so I can’t wait to see what they produce.
So check out Host Pulse and Inside ISPCON and when you do, make sure you let them know that the Web Hosting Show sent you there.
