Hello and welcome to the Web Hosting Show, the one and only voice of the Web hosting world. This show is supported each and every week by the fine folks over at Web Hosting Chat. Web Hosting Chat is your number one place for Web hosting discussions. Who am I? I am the always lovable Web hosting guru of choice, Mitch Keeler.

Even though my Internet connection has been driving me crazy this weekend, I have been able to get a few things done. It isn’t ready for release yet, but there will soon be another Web Hosting Show Video Tutorial very soon. If all goes well, next Thursday should be the release date.

This show is for folks who want a different and new look at the Web hosting industry. I try to stay far away from both the black and the white. The information I want to deliver to you is somewhere in the gray area. I’ve got news, interview, videos, opinions and more each and every week.

Do you have a few opinions you’d like to share? Just shoot me over and E-mail at mitch@mitchkeeler.com with all your feedback, thoughts, suggestions and comments and I’ll be sure to address them either offline or right here on this very podcast.

Web Hosting Headlines

The Web hosting news and headlines are brought to you by Web Host Magazine & Buyer’s Guide. The Web Host Magazine & Buyer’s Guide is the place to go to get all the latest Web hosting news from around the globe.

1&1 Announces New Photo Gallery Feature

1&1 Internet, Inc., has introduced an innovative photo gallery tool that gives users a fast and easy way to load, organize, edit and publish digital photographs online. The 1&1 Photo Gallery is being included at no additional cost with the company’s shared hosting plans.

Mitch’s Take: It looks like the holidays are coming early for the customers of 1&1 Internet. I love it when hosting companies give back to the customer base, and this is a quality example of just that. More companies should be worried about keeping the hosting customer they have, not worried about bringing in new ones.

Aplus.Net Offers Google Site Map Tool

Leading Internet presence solution provider, Aplus.Net today announced the addition of two site map tools to its feature-rich Control Panel. Aplus.Net has made the site map and Google site map available to its web hosting customers at no extra charge.

Mitch’s Take: The Google Site Map tools are helpful for any Webmaster wanting to make sure that Google has their information. For those of you who don’t have a Web host as nice as Aplus.net, you can sign up for Google Site Maps on your own. It might seem like a lot of trouble, but it is worth it.

Windows Live Email Service

Domains.Live.com is a free new email service offered by Microsoft. It’s a simple but very useful tool. And, like Office Live, it is disruptive to the existing domain name registrar market (are they even paying attention?).

Mitch’s Take: Is this just a sneak peak at what Microsoft wants to do in the Web hosting world? Some of the other features include: Create up to 20 e-mail accounts within your domain; Get a 250 MB inbox for each account; Check your e-mail from any Web-enabled PC; Junk e-mail filter protection using Microsoft SmartScreen technology; Virus scanning and cleaning of e-mail; Seamless access with MSN Messenger, MSN Spaces, and more. Big brother is doing more than just watching you, he’s putting out a pretty nice offer as well!

Web Hosting Tip of the Week – Podcast Hosting?

Every so often you just need a quick nugget of Web hosting knowledge. The Web hosting tip of the week is brought to you by Mitchelaneous. Mitchelaneous is my own tech news and views Web site, where I tell you what I think about some of the new things coming out of the technology world.

This week’s tip is more of a question really. Should Web hosts start offering specialized podcast hosting? One company has already started mixing podcast hosting in with the regular Web hosting plans you might see. SolidSpace is the company, and I have to say I like what they have to offer.

It’s nice to see that not all Web hosts are turning a blind eye to innovation. I think my tip this week is really for all the Web hosts listening today. You, yes you need to start thinking about future innovations like blogs, podcasting and Web 2.0 and decide how you are going to use these ideas to further your own bottom dollar.

The more choices we get, the better the market does.. and that would be good news for everybody.

Do you have a Web hosting tip you’d like to share? Make sure you send it to mitch@mitchkeeler.com and who knows? It could be included on the very next edition of the Web Hosting Show.

Web Hosting Winner of the Week

The Web Hosting Show’s Winner of the Week is brought to you by AllHostingDeals.com. AllHostingDeals.com is your number one place to find Web hosting offers too good to be true.

This week’s winner from the hosting industry is ipower.com.

This ‘bit of information I found over at the WHIR:

Web hosting provider IPOWER announced on Wednesday it has donated $2,500 to The Real Gift Foundation for its Thanksgiving dinner drive for homeless families in Phoenix. The campaign is hosted by Phoenix radio station KISS FM.

I say good for IPOWER! The $2,500 supplied 100 Thanksgiving meals, with each meal feeding six to eight family members of the students who attended Phoenix’s Thomas J. Pappas School. Each dinner included an 11 to 13 pound turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, vegetables and pie. See, Web hosts can be as good of a member of the community as any other company. IPOWER you are the Web hosting Winner of the Week!

Do you know of somebody or some company that is doing great things within the Web hosting world? Drop me a line at mitch@mitchkeeler.com so I can let everybody know about it, right here on the Web Hosting Show, the voice of the Web hosting world.

Technical Difficulties

Well due to my SBC Yahoo! DSL line cutting in and out, that is where this episode of the Web Hosting Show ends. As a special treat for those of you listening to the MP3, I have inserted my interview with George Roberts about HostingCon 2006. It is one of my favorite interviews I have done, so I hope you enjoy it.
