Hello I am the Web hosting industry’s media rock star, Mitch Keeler, and welcome to the Web Hosting Show, the one and only voice of the Web hosting world. This show is supported each and every week by the fine folks over at Web Hosting Chat. Web Hosting Chat is your number one place for Web hosting discussions.
I just got another Web Hosting Show t-shirt in the mail this weekend. Nothing happened to the first one, I just wanted on that had some sleeves. Have you picked your Web Hosting Show merchandise up yet? You can do so over at the Web Hosting Show Online Store.
I redesigned the Web Hosting Show’s Web site layout a little this weekend as well. I wanted to mix it up a ‘bit to see if I can get a few more visitors to return. How do you like it? Let me know.
Have something you want to tell me one on one? Just send me an E-mail at mitch@mitchkeeler.com with all your feedback, thoughts, suggestions and comments and I’ll be sure to get back with you as soon as possible.
Web Hosting News and Headlines
The latest Web hosting news from around the globe is brought to you by the Web Host Magazine & Buyer’s Guide. Do you have some Web hosting news to share? Make sure you send it to me at mitch@mitchkeeler.com.
Massive Demand For .EU Domain Names
The so-called “land rush” period for .eu domain names started last Friday. Now everyone can register .eu domain names, not just companies and copyright holders. The response has been overwhelming, with the systems initially being occupied with the massive amounts of pre-registered domain names.
Mitch’s Take: There you have it folks, yet another domain name extension you can pick up. The main “land rush” was probably made up of people buying all the obvious “big seller” domain names, so they can sell them off and make some profit. Personally I am still a bigger fan of the .com domain names. Who knows though, maybe the .eu will gain traction as time goes on.
Mitch’s Hosting Talking Points
You pick the topics and I talk about them. All of my Web hosting thoughts, views and ideas are brought to you by Data Center Talk. Do you have a topic you’d like to hear me discuss? Just drop me an E-mail at mitch@mitchkeeler.com.
Web Hosting Hall of Fame?
Should there be a Web hosting hall of fame? Are there enough Web hosts out there that have done enough to deserve to be in the hall of fame, if one existed? Right now all I have are a lot of questions, but it is an interesting topic to think about.
For the most part, the hosting industry is self serving and to itself. I think that we need something that would unify the industry better, and a hall of fame might be the right way to go. That way, we could at least have a peak of success to look forward to.
I don’t think we should keep it just to the Web hosts though. If there is a Hosting hall of fame, lets let anybody become apart of it. There are just as many people working hard in the hosting industry that don’t have Web hosting companies to run. Think of all the hosting magazines, hosting Web sites, Web hosting podcasts, the list goes on and on. Just like any hall of fame, we could have different wings for different parts of the hosting community.
Hall of fame or not, I really think the hosting industry needs something to gather around. Hostingcon could be that event, but it is not something everybody wants to attend or participate in. So what are your thoughts on how we can better unify the industry. Is it possible at all?
Send me a voice message on the topic, and I’ll play them on next week’s edition of the podcast.
Hosting Tips and Tricks
All of my hosting tips and tricks are brought to you by my blog, Mitchelaneous. Do you have a Web hosting tip or trick to share? If you do, send it to me at mitch@mitchkeeler.com.
Have a Web host you want to keep track of? Are you a Web host that wants to keep up with yourself? Check out ipWalk.com!
By becoming a Ipwalk member you will get access to more features than our regular visitors. And gold members have unlimited access to history of our statistics, want to see how much a competitor has grown since three months back? No problem. You can also save your favorite hosts that you look at the most so they are always just one click away.
I have to say ipWalk.com is offering an interesting service here. There are both paid and free membership options, so check it out and let me know what you think.
The second resource I have for you this week is WebHostingJury.com. Here is what they are all about:
Web Hosting Jury is a web hosting reviews site but with a difference. All the hosting reviews on our site are reviews submitted by past or present customers of that particular web host. Please feel free to browse through existing reviews or submit a review. Even if the host is not already listed on our site you can submit a web hosting review about your web hosting company.
I like this review process more so than other places. Here, the customer is really in control when it comes to making or breaking the Web host they are with.
Web Host of the Week
I belive in giving credit where credit is due. The Web Hosting Show Web Host of the Week is brought to you by BrowseHosts.com. Do you know a Web host that deserves some time in the spotlight? Send me a link at mitch@mitchkeeler.com.
The Web host of the week this week is GlobalWebBrands.com.

12000 MB Data Storage
125 GB Data Transfer

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Founded in August 2004 as a Web site design company, GlobalWebBrands.com began offering Web hosting under the GlobalWebBrands name on January 1st, 2005. Check them out, give them a shot and when you go make sure you let them know that the Web Hosting Show sent you there!
