I am Mitch Keeler, the media rock star of the Web hosting industry and I want to welcome one and all to the number one Web hosting podcast out there today, the Web Hosting Show. This podcast is supported each and every week by the fine folks over at Web Hosting Chat. WebHostingChat.com is your number one place for Web hosting discussions.
Last week I took a little break to recharge my batteries (and reinstall Windows XP) but I am back and ready to take the Web hosting world by storm again. One thing I have noticed over these summer months is it seems like there isn’t as much to talk about as there is in fall or winter. I can promise you though I’ll still seek out the best, it might just take me a little longer to find it.
For those of you who might not know, this podcast take the best the Web hosting industry has to offer, tosses in a few tips and a little charisma and sends you out an informative and fun podcast to listen to each and every week.
You won’t hear me talk about the basic configuration issues for a three year old server, but you will hear about how I think we can all make the Web hosting industry better for everybody. No matter if you are a Web host or a Web hosting client, I promise you will get something out of this audio transmission.

DemoWolf Acquires HostingTutorials
Web hosting tutorial developer DemoWolf (demowolf.com) announced on Thursday it has acquired the assets of competitor HostingTutorials (hostingtutorials.biz). As part of the acquisition, former HostingTutorials owner Chris Blunden has joined DemoWolf as a DemoWolf developer, and will assist in developing new support tutorials and demonstrations for the Web hosting industry.
I have to send out my biggest congrats on this deal to DemoWolf, since they are a good friend to this podcast. I told you a little later on in the show, I was going to let you know a few cheap ways of growing your business. This business deal would be the exact opposite. Buying out a competitor will take some dough, but the rewards can be really sweet. Depending on how big of a client base they have, you could double or triple your audience just by spending a little cash.

Turn Hosting Clients Into Billboards
I have had a few Web hosts send me questions about how to grow their client base. How do they bring more people in without spending all the profits they have gained. Well, taking the cheap way out will not be easy, but it can be done.
No matter if you have five or fifty customers, you have something to work with. If all of those people are happy customers, they will be more than willing to share the word about your services. The first thing you have to do is make sure your “client base” is a happy one.
After that, you might hand out a few perks for clients and customers that link back to you. Start up a links Web page under your companies Web site, and tell your clients if they link back to you – you will link back to them. Having these Web hosting related links on Web sites that aren’t Web hosting focused will open you up to a few new markets.
You could also exchange links with other Web hosting services around the Internet. There are plenty of forums to post to and directories to join for free.
As far as forums go, after you have made a few posts, they will allow you to link back to your company in your signature. Now this might not seem like much, but remember every link helps! With Web hosting directories, they might seem a little corny, but a lot of future Web hosting clients check these over to find the best deals. Having yourself listed there with all the rest would mean they would see you too.
The big thing I want you to remember is that the world is yours to turn into a billboard about your services.
Web Hosting Site of the Week

I ran across a resource the other day that I thought would be very helpful for the Web hosts that are out there listening. The Web site is Sky-Click.com and they are offering a “click to call” call center and callback solution.
Here is how they explain the services they provide:
SKY-click offers a solution to manage company, department & collaborator incoming and outgoing calls with NO implementation costs, because everything is already available: Skype, a PC, an Internet connection. SKY-click can help you monitor all your company’s incoming and outgoing calls and provide you with pertinent analytics.
The solution is very simple to use: you set up your company’s departments and associate people to the relevant one. The system will then automatically distribute the calls to the right operator and your co-workers will be able to call anyone outside the company via Skype or SkypeOut.
I know some Web hosts out there are already using Skype for support, so this might make things a little easier to manage. In all honesty though, just about any Web business could use this as a cheaper way of doing “audio” support with your customers and clients.
So check them out at Sky-Click.com and let them know that the Web Hosting Show sent you there.
