Go ahead, join up and say hi to some of the other Web Hosting Show fans and friends. I’ll be interested to see how many people interact here. You can add me as a friend too. We are all buddies, right? RIGHT?!

Using Social Bookmarks for Free Press

Looking around the different Web hosting forums, blogs and news Web sites I have a feeling that a lot of the Web hosting world is ignoring a lot of the newer trends that are making a difference in this whole Web 2.0 era we are in.

Too many of the Web hosting standards and staples want to stay with the old way of doing things. Some hosting resources though are seeing the payoff when you use the new social Web to your advantage.

I am seeing several Web hosting Web sites using del.icio.us and other social bookmarking Web sites to gain a little more popularity for them self. You see the icons on the bottom of the posts and this builds in a lot of interactivity with the visitor. It gives them a way to save it for later or let others know about this great thing they found.

You can see a good example of this if you visit the Lunarpages blog, Lunartics. Scroll down to the bottom of any post and you will see what I mean.

A lot of Web hosts out there have big fan followings as well. Via their message boards or blog they could “rally the troops” and get loads of folks to digg them, bookmark them and share them via all these different methods. Here are a list of resources that you should check out and make sure you are listed on - one way or another.

Have more resources? Leave a comment and share them with the rest of us.

The important thing to remember is don’t feel bad if you are not making headroom just yet. No mater if you have two or two hundred people socially interacting with your links, it is good to have them there. When people search or do some random browsing, you will be there.

In a business that is driven by getting people’s attention - you can think of this as free advertising.

The Web Hosting Show on MyBlogLog

Want to help me out with a social experiment?

Go add yourself as a reader (or in their terms, “member”) of The Web Hosting Show via MyBlogLog. I have been seeing this pop up on all my favorite Web sites, so I thought I would jump in on the fun and see who comes up as a reader here.

If nobody interacts, it will probably be gone soon - but if I see a lot of members coming up then I might have to keep it around. I’d like to see who reads The Web Hosting Show and see what other Web sites you find interesting.

Also feel free to add me as a friend as well.

New Digg.com

Go Digg the Web Hosting Show Podcast!

Come on, do I really have to say anything else? I noticed this neat new feature on Digg.com a little earlier today and I do have to say I like it. Here you can digg your favorite episodes of the Web Hosting Show, or just the podcast in general.

Now I do not expect to get past four diggs or so - but you are always welcome to try to prove me wrong. Are we Web hosting freaks and geeks going to let ourselves be beat out again?

I am just a lonely web hosting soldier in the Online war, you guys and gals are the army so I will let you make the call.

Mitch on MySpace.com

Yeah I sold out. I went and joined MySpace.com a few weeks back just as an experiment to see how useful it really is. So far I have to say, it has been an alright experience. A few of my friends have found me since I signed up so that is cool. The entire experience could be a little easier for new folks to MySpace, but hey… maybe I am just a little thick headed. So if you want to add me to your friends list, or just want me in one more place feel free to check out the profile and talk. Any other social Web sites worth checking out?
