Web Site Monitoring with Site24×7.com

With both paid and free versions, Site24×7.com looks to be a great web site monitoring package.  They do monitoring of uptime and performance of your web sites, online services and servers.  They also promise to deliver instant alerts the moment something goes wrong.

You can set the monitoring tools to check the web site in question you wish to monitor in intervals ranging from 5 to 60 minutes or above.

If the worst might happen, and you need to be told, here are the various ways they can alert you to trouble:

  • E-mail
  • RSS
  • SMS Messages

For those of you just wanting to beta test the service; when you first sign up, you are given a fully functional, 15-day trial account. At the end of 15 days, your account will be downgraded to free unless you upgrade to either Standard or Premium account.

Check out the screenshots, then give them a shot at Site24×7.com.

Weekend Update

I’ve been up to a little updating this weekend.

Updated Subscription Page - There are now a few more options listed there for you to use to subscribe to the Web Hosting Show web site and podcast. I also added a syndication section for those who want to display the Web Hosting Show’s posts on their own web site, blog, MySpace, ect.

Popular Posts - The most popular posts and podcasts are back on the WebHostingShow.com sidebar.

Link Back Feature Added - Added a new “link back” section to each post, so you have an easy cut and paste way of grabbing links for posts so that you can share the love and include them elsewhere without any extra work. See something you want to share? Now it is a little easier to grab that link.

Link to Hosting Links - Put a quick access link to Hosting Hoopla to the top of the web site’s layout so you don’t have to do much work to check out some of the best and newest resources, news-bites, and links from around the web hosting world.

Have any other suggestions? Send them my way!

Hosting Hoopla is Back

Hosting HooplaRemember Hosting Hoopla? If you do - you must have been one of the 15 people that were still going to it. For the rest of you though, I have shot it in the arm with a new idea and I really hope you give it another shot.

From this point on Hosting Hoopla will be much more than just a list of resources. I will now be kind of link blogging some of the best web hosting and web development news, links, resources, help and more. Just think of it as an always growing list of things in the web hosting world you should be paying attention to.

Why do all that hard work of hunting things down when you can let me do it for you? Of course you can subscribe via the RSS feed or even get daily e-mail updates. Don’t forget the mobile device friendly version of the Hosting Hoopla link list as well.

Feel free to let me know what you like, what you don’t like, what you need and what you want. I am totally open to suggestions, just send them my way. I’d be happy to take them and work them in.

Web Hosting Show is Breaking Records

Related Podcast Link: Listen to Episode 117!

Web DevelopmentNow I know not many people like the blogs or podcast on the blogs or podcasts. Talking about yourself talking about yourself can get a little confusing for some and a little boring for others. I just have a little ‘bit of news to share.

Here recently, within the last few weeks it seems that the listener base for the Web Hosting Show podcast has grown by leaps and bounds. Where we were getting the average download rate of 500 or so a week - you are now doing three times as much listening. At the time of writing this, last week’s podcast in the span of seven days had been downloaded 1,600 times. That’s a big mile stone for me and should be for you as well.

I think a big part of it has to do with the new flash player that I embeded on the WebHostingShow.com layout. This makes it easier than ever to listen to the show right there on the web site.

Now other podcasts or big-wigs in the hosting industry might laugh a little at that number. Sure, I’m not exactly the Ted Turner of web hosting yet and I’m not sure I’d ever want to be. I’m happy being your “web hosting industry media rock star” a guy that has a fun weekend hobby that people enjoy.

Feel free to continue spreading the word though on and about this show. Every mention, link and listen is appreciated.

New Year, New Theme

Well with all of this talk about the Web Hosting Show about to begin it’s third year of bringing audio content to the Web hosting industry - I figured it was about time to give the Web Hosting Show’s Web site a new look and theme. Yes, we are saying goodbye to year two and hello to year three with an entire new design on WebHostingShow.com.

If you still see a few new things creeping up, don’t mind me - I am just putting the finishing touches on the layout. I do have to say though that this one is so far my favorite of all the “looks” the Web Hosting Show has had. I guess you could say this might be the replacement for the podcast this week since I am a little short on time and will have a big busy week next week. (Got to go to jury duty Monday morning)

New WebHostingShow.com

So let me know what you think, and if there is anything you would like to see added - please be my guest and suggest. This Web site is as much yours as it is mine, so if you want to see something here please let me know. Opinions, suggestions, ideas and complaints are always welcome.
